Praxis Work
I can hardly believe it’s 2024! This month I am doing a self-made module. Everything I have learned from my other modules is contributing to this one. My goal is to get a copywriting client by the end of the month, but there are many steps to get there. First, I needed to identify the niche I wanted to target. I chose fitness, as it’s pretty broad, popular, and something I have some information about.
This week I wrote ten emails for fitness marketing. This gives the dual benefit of helping me improve my copywriting even more and having something to show to potential clients.
Praxis Reading
This week was the start of The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, which I’m greatly enjoying. Chapter two is especially hard-hitting. It contrasts the 1 in a million chance that Bill Gates went to the school that he did with the computer that changed the trajectory of his life, with the one in a million chance his friend had of dying of dying in a biking accident.
Luck and risk are so similar. They influence how the richest of the rich achieve their wealth, and simultaneously how the poorest of the poor lose it. It’s better not to study extremes when trying to figure out what to do with your wealth because of it. They both influence them to a certain degree.
Youth Group Teaching
Starting again this week was our youth group. We are still working on the kid’s mission statements. Who they want to be no matter the circumstances. There is a bit of a struggle trying to figure out what they admire in others and wish to emulate themselves, but I know they are trying and that’s what’s important!
Art of the Week
I’m trying to clean out my phone storage. It is loaded down with screenshots of reference photos, that I have been ignoring, so here’s one of them!
If you want to see more artwork from me, including more progress photos of the art above, check out my Instagram page, Lucid Ace Art.
What’s in the Works?
I’ve completed the 50-day discipline challenge! It was rewarding to complete and to herald in the new year with the accomplishment of it. The next challenge I have taken up is a plan to read the Bible in a year with some of my friends. I’m doing two different reading plans with different people, so it’s been interesting seeing the different layouts of the plans. One is set to go through the Bible chronologically and the other is doing a couple of chapters of three books at once. It’s been interesting comparing the two.
I started a new series of posts about learning how to be an adult, which I have aptly titled How to Adult. The first post in this series is about credit cards, what they are, and how to use them effectively.
Another project I started is a personal professional Instagram page. I already have one for my art, apparel shop, and a private personal page, bringing my total number of Instagrams to four!
And it really must be the week for starting things, because I also started working at a local car dealer, which has caused some scheduling challenges with my other responsibilities, but I’ve made it work so far. I’m doing some of the low-level accounting and filing work, which has been a great learning experience so far. I don’t fully grasp the concepts and systems yet, but I’m learning quickly!
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!
